The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is not a Sacrament but is the process by which the Catholic Church initiates adults into full communion with the Church. RCIA involves all three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
It is for anyone who:
- has never been baptized
- has been baptized in another Christian tradition and now wants to become Catholic
- has been baptized, but has not celebrated Confirmation or Eucharist
- or for any Catholic church member who wants to learn more about their faith
The RCIA process respects each person’s unique Faith journey and allows plenty of time for discernment to guide all those who are involved in the process. Before entering the process, an initial interview should be arranged between the Inquirer and an RCIA Coordinator.
